IWD............

To all my blog friends around the world...........today globally is IWD - International Women's Day..........
Time to appreciate the freedom we have in our lives to do what we want.............work, have family's, food on our table, roof over our heads, entertain our hobbies - quilt, stitching etc, live in a safe country...........
I know we may not be equal to men in all things but I have a happy safe life...........
More strength to those less fortunate........that there lives continue to improve......
.........take care til next time.....Chookyblue.........

I wanted to say "Hear, Hear"!! as the Brits do - mmm is it here here or hear hear. Guess "hear" since it would be like "I hear you" - DUH - I'm dumb in the mornings!

Very well written. I am grateful as I have more freedom than my Mum and her Mum before that.

This Brit is not prone to saying "Hear Hear" I believe it is spelt that way. Not sure of its origins but it is used quite a bit in Parliament by the MP's during discussions and debates.

Well said Chooky. I went to an IWD lunch last Friday - Layne Beachley was the speaker. What a fantastic example she is to younger women. I was so impressed by everything she had to say.

Well said Chooky. Here is Aus, we are fortunate to live in a culture that on the whole does value women. I am always aware that not all cultures & countries see value in educating & protecting women & girls. And let's face it, if being pregnant & caring for the babies of the world was up to the Man, the human race would have ended years ago - blokes don't want to be equal with women on that area of childbirth do they?!?!?! x

Happy Day to you, Chooky!

Women have come a long way in the last 100 years or so....I met the first Woman Pharmacist in Mississippi, USA on Saturday. She started Pharmacy School in 1945 and is still working at her family's Drug Store which was established in the 1800s. I talked with her a while about her achievements. My Daughter is a Pharmacist so it was a special connection. Amazing Woman of her time.
